I'm a white guy who was classified as Asian by my university because my name sounds Asian. I give you permission to claim Native Ancestry (13000 years and a Bering Strait land-bridge removed), since my unique circumstances ensure I do not benefit from AA.

I'm also really glad you asked for my permission. It is good to know that, despite decolonization and the rise of Asia, there's still a bit of sentiment for the good old days when guys like me were pulled around in rickshaws and called sahib. Thank you for making an old imperialist happy.

The faculty at these top schools support the system. There is a transfer of spots from Asians to blacks/Hispanics. Whites don't suffer much because of affirmative action, and that's the way they like it. Black faculty support the illegal an unethical system as well.

People should note: this is not only unethical, but it is also illegal. And the strongest support for ending it comes from conservative alumni and faculty. Liberals apparently like to discriminate against Asians.

I could see the old white men being willing to let women in (since they have daughters) and blacks/hispanics(since they feel guilty and maybe they marched in the 60s for the cause before they went to Wall Street to make buckets of money), but then being less shamefaced about their worries about diluting the school's traditional white male culture when the question of Asians comes up.
