Mods: Please add a Canada section/theme so we can have multiple threads, just like we have American, Comparative etc sections. That way we don't get to 36 pages on one thread that is all over the place.

"Canadian politics" is not a recognized field of the discipline. It's part of comparative. Therefore, put all the threads you want there.

I wanted to second the need for a separate section. We have a section for Methodology/Theory Debates and that is no a field either.
Mods: please do this.

The comparison of the Methods/Theory debates folder to a possible Canadian folder is inapt. "Methodology/theory debates" reflects issues relevant to all fields of the discipline, except those that are bereft of theory and use no methods. Such as, for instance, Canadian politics.

Agreed. Canadian is part of comparative. Just like...American.

>> Agreed. Canadian is part of comparative. Just like...American.
Indeed it is. If you comparativists want to wade through all the American junk to get to your preferred destination, it suits me fine.
I have always thought that the main beneficiaries of breaking American off into a separate field are the comparativists themselves. It gives them their own space.

While at it, please add a separate section for Nepal.

Why not a separate section for each of the respondents to the NES?

I feel that my identity as a Canadian is not being respected.

Canadian politics does have its own organized section at APSA and MPSA.

> Canadian politics does have its own organized section at APSA and MPSA.
So? We don't have separate folders for all the other ones.
Douche hose.

There are jobs for Canadianists separate from comparative. And the Canada job market is different. It would be great to be part of this blog because Canada is insular enough as it is.

"Blog"?

The board has enough douchebags already. Do we really want to attract more from the north of the border? Judging from their now dead thread, they are even more of douchebags than we are. Let them get their own board.

>> There are jobs for Canadianists separate from comparative.
Only in Canadia.
Which just illustrates that y'all have so little imagination that you can't help but ape the USA ("they have American politics, so we should have Canadian!"), even while the define yourselves in reaction and distinction to it.

Does there really have to be a debate? A separate section would be very useful.

Pretty please?

^^^
Depts. in France has a French politics field, courses, etc.Depts. in the UK has a UK politics field, courses, etc.
Depts. in California has CA politics courses (no field yet).
Do they all try to emulate the US?

OK help me out here.
Are you asking for a place to discuss jobs at Canadian Schools, or the subfield "Canadian Politics?".
Posted 6 months ago # -
I vote for a place to discuss Canadian schools, b/c the market's substantially different there than in the U.S.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Or how about a section for "Jobs outside the U.S." -- [Trolls: I am *not* suggesting that everything outside the U.S. is identical -- having, ahem, taught outside the U.S. on multiple occasions -- just that the market conditions are substantially different, and it might be a useful subsection.]
