^^A lot to that. Grads from schools like Rochester need to make it more on their own.

^^^You really don't know what you're talking about. Gary's students are -too good- for the poster session. They get a plenary presentation, where Gary is nominally on the project (so it counts as a faculty paper).

Wow. Sounds like this was posted by one of Gary's research assistants who's decided that s/he deserves more credit for the collaboration than s/he's currently getting.
Maybe you should take it up with Gary himself rather than airing your grievances on PSJR. Don't you know that this can only end up ugly?

It was posted awhile ago - Hidalgo from Berkeley.

^ Incorrect. It went to an ABD from Iowa.

Really? Where's the announcement?

MSU PhD won.

That's nice for MSU to snag that...they could use some morale with the news about the Ph.D. program shutting down. Ironic that an MSU kid won this award then.

"^Or better yet, give the award to a student from a department whose grad students know how to behave themselves at a conference. "
Why is handing out the award to a less-deserving student a better solution?

Seriously, all of this is about a poster award? Graduate from the 6th grade, you clowns.
