Wanted to see if anyone had had any experience (themselves or someone they know) regarding doing consulting work on the side while working as a tenured track professor in political science. I've heard that there are some political science professors who make a pretty decent side income doing polling or other political consulting work, and was wondering how political science departments generally feel about that? Does it make a big difference if its pre or post tenure, or depending on whether its at an R1 or an LAC or just any random university.
