Was there ever any resolution to the two Baylor comparative searches? If not, anyone know if they'll hire next year?

They require missionary position sex at Baylor, they're afraid if you stand up it might lead to dancing.

Rising Christian institution. Great job. Not so great place to live.
Posted 1 year ago # -
What's a "rising christian"? Is that some new lingo for evangelicals or something?
Posted 1 year ago # -
It means Baylor is moving up the rankings and placing their PhDs.
Posted 1 year ago # -
its, not their
Posted 1 year ago # -
So apparently both searches failed last year.
Posted 1 year ago # -
^^Actually, since Baylor is a legal person under U.S. law, "their" is just fine.

^ who are those people? Couldn't find them on google.

Given that these two searches had flyouts last year but no hires, is there some sort of dysfunction at Baylor?
Posted 1 year ago # -
"...is there some dysfunction at Baylor." LOL. Where would you start?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Baylor is a super dysfunctional department built from parts of lesser dysfunctional departments.
Posted 1 year ago # -
eh? What does that mean?

What happened to this search last year? I thought they hired someone. Does any one know if they are just trying to increase the Comparative discipline within the department? Or did they just not hire anyone after interviews last year?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Last year they made two offers to senior people--1 from a similar U.S. institution, another from a significantly better one in the U.K.-- both of whom declined.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Baylor is already a Top 30 department, and could reach Top 10 status within 10 years. Individual hires contribute to the process, but the details are largely irrelevant.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Top 10 status in what? Theory? Certainly not political science as a whole, and certainly not the university-wide ranking.

Still no news on Baylor's searches?

Still searching for revealed and discovered truth and Texas' greatness:
Posted 1 year ago # -
Here are the facts:
They searched for 2 comparative slots last year. They ended up going after senior people who turned out to be playing them for counter-offers.
But, news of those searches eventually leaked onto PSJR.So if you haven't heard anything, and there hasn't been any information on here, chances are that the committee hasn't moved yet.
