The same reason every untenured theorist at Columbia gets the hell out of there with the first respectable offer they get.

^^MS is associate prof at CU...ie tenured

You can be Associate and UNtenured at Columbia. Several folks are currently in that position right now.

There have always been unfounded rumors of friction between senior and junior theorists at CU. But the fact is they are collegial, ecumenical, and supportive all-around.

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Melissa Schwartzberg has accepted our offer conditional on the successful completion of a GU tenure and promotion review. We anticipate that she will be joining us for the fall semester of 2013 as Professor of Government and Tsakopoulos-Kounakalakis Chair in Hellenic Studies.
