Which schools had the best (and worst) placement records this year?
My vote for worst: Rochester.
Which schools had the best (and worst) placement records this year?
My vote for worst: Rochester.
best: your school
^^not true. They have a few great placements.
Where?
Best: Stanford, UCSD, Harvard.
Worst is probably difficult to figure out. More interesting would be worst among ostensibly good programs.
OP, where is you placed?
^ where is you learn English?
"Best: Stanford, UCSD, Harvard."
What are their placements this year?
Best: Harvard, Columbia, Stanford
Worst: UCLA (did they place anyone?), Princeton (which placed one person?)
Stanford placements include MIT, UCLA, GW and Berkeley.
Off the top of my head, UCSD has placed people at Harvard, W&M, GWU, OSU and UW this year. Most of them turned down at least 1 other offer.
Hiariously, the UCSD students on here think that is a banner year -- and it is a banner year for UCSD. It's an ordinary year for Stanford, Berkeley, and Harvard, which usually have the best placements of the top schools. UCLA has also done well in recent years.
Invidious comparison in the hizz-ouse!
Re: princeton. They placed at least 3 theorists in TT jobs. Don't know how Princeton did in the other subfields.
Seems like a pretty regular year for both UCSD and Stanford
Who has Berkeley placed? I haven't heard of a single person.
mcgill
they placed three
Worst among generally good programs: Princeton. No doubt about that one.
Berkeley has a bunch...Yale, MIT, Northwestern law school (as faculty not student), UC Merced, some LACs
The best seem to be Stanford, Harvard, UCSD, Berkeley and Columbia. Not necessarily in that order.
The worst, I would say, are Princeton and Yale.
UCSD is above its own average, but not on par with the big boys.
My dad can beat up your dad.
Nope, Rochester has the worst record among programs that claim to be great.
UCLA? Anyone? Anyone?
you are all worthless and weak, living off the reflected glory of people in your grad programs who got good jobs.
Princeton also placed a comparativist at Harvard this year, in addition to the theory placements mentioned above.
UCLA, after several outstanding year during which placement was on par with any program, crashed this year. We'll see if it is a trend soon.
Yale is apparently dominating the Philadelphia-area CP placements, with one at Temple and one at Drexel.
Yale uber alles
Not really.
- linsanity year at UCSD
- good year at Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, and Columbia
- subpar year at Yale, Princeton (unless someone can convince me otherwise by saying where those three "theory TT placements" actually are)
- utter dry spell year at UCLA, Rochester, Michigan, and Chicago
