What's the tenure deal with Mantena, March, Ochoa, Landemore?
Website is hard to follow in terms of who is going up for tenure or for untenured associate.

The website doesn't contain that information. As titles change or people leave, it will be updated. But real time information isn't available, for some rather obvious and very good reasons. And, of course, no one with actual information would dream of sharing it in this forum.

Mantena: in
March: in
Ochoa: out
Landemore: outPosted 4 months ago # -
Just summarizing what has been posted here before:
Mantena is up for tenure (likely to get it). March is untenured associate, he's not going up for anything. Ochoa is a few years behind, she's going up for untenured associate (likely to get it). Landemore is just starting, not up for anything yet. What else do you want to know? Results are likely to be gossiped about later in the Spring.Posted 4 months ago # -
Thanks
I don't get it still
Mantena seems to have arrived to Yale in 2005; Ochoa in 2006.
How can Mantena be going up for likely "tenure" but Ochoa for 'untenured associate'? it is just 1 year difference.
Even though ochoa has a second-tier press book and just 1 top tier article, still likely to get untenured associate? why?
When did March get to Yale?Posted 4 months ago # -
so ochoa in or out? why?

confusing

Based on the syntax, it appears to be the same person asking the exact same questions about the same people at Yale. If you want this info so badly, please tell us why this interests you so much.

Lots of things extend the clock: maternity leave, family leave, unpaid sabbatical, postdocs, etc.
Relax and get back to work.

Just curious about how things work at Yale; I am tenured at a top 10 PT program but would like to apply to Yale or Columbia to be in NYC. If there is an opening, I would apply, if there isnt I wouldnt :) just asking

post # 2 is right, anyone who actually knew anything wouldn't be stupid enough to post it here.
Posted 4 months ago # -
grad students could post rumors on here with little cost
Posted 4 months ago # -
^ not at Yale.
Posted 4 months ago # -
^^ and even less benefit!
Posted 4 months ago # -
and, um, grad students don't actually know anything.

Now, seriously. What could be the OP's motivation then?
Posted 4 months ago # -
schadenfreude? it's what this site otherwise runs on, tiny people that we are...
Posted 4 months ago # -
OP here
like anyone else, I want to know where/if there are job openings anywhere near nyc.
thats all.Posted 4 months ago # -
And if on the way you smear Paulina's or Helene's reputation, all the better. Right?
Posted 4 months ago # -
Who smeared anyone?
they are great people/scholars. I'm just asking what's going on.Posted 4 months ago # -
"a second-tier press book and just 1 top tier article"
so that was meant as a compliment?
Posted 4 months ago # -
Hold on: are you saying Penn State Press is top tier?
Everyone know the top tier PT presses are PUP, OUP and Chicago.
maybe Cambridge.
Cornell, Penn State, Duke, etc are second-tier.
how is this not a fact?Posted 4 months ago # -
1. Yale is more than two hours away from NYC.
2. If you're a tenured professor you have no chance of landing a job at Yale or Columbia. Unless you are Waldron, you will not get a senior offer, and for juniors they only hire Harvard or Oxford first years or ABDs.
3. If you want to get out of Texas you're going to have to change professions.Posted 4 months ago # -
No, it's about 1.56 hrs drive from NYC
Posted 4 months ago # -
OP here
I am WaldronPosted 4 months ago # -
So Ochoa went to HU or Oxford?

"Everyone know the top tier PT presses are PUP, OUP and Chicago.
maybe Cambridge."Huh? "maybe" Cambridge?
Posted 4 months ago # -
ok yea CUP too.
but Penn State?Posted 4 months ago # -
OP here
if there's one thing I've learned about academia in over 20 yrs is that anything is possible.
things can be less or more likely, but theres never a zero chance of anything.Posted 4 months ago #
