   There is a discussion that has been going on in the 'R&R on a CV' thread that is too important to let get buried.

   Gagnon is actually publishing a book. With Palgrave. It has a great review from John Dryzek.

   This new book smells very fishy to me. Despite the impressive sounding blurbs provided by Dryzek (!!!!!) and the other dude, a google search for "Evolutionary Basic Democracy" brings up nothing other than the Palgrave page and PSJR. No working papers, conferences papers or any other references anywhere else. Very weird. I've read bits of the nonsense written by Gagnon before - it seems throughly odd (and improbable) that he would be able to get any of this trash past a decent publisher or a serious scholar like Dryzek. What the fcuck?

   What those reviews tell me is this: the study of political science outside of England and the United States represents the apotheosis of dismal nonsense. and the level of nonsense coming from within the "city walls" is pretty high already.

   Dryzek is in good company:

    I wonder how much money the performance artist JPG has had to spend to create this elaborate farce. I mean, think of how many hands he had to grease over at palgrave macmillan to get them to list his alleged book, not to mention the cost of getting a known scholar in the field to supposedly review it.

    Yes, nice guy, but very overrated. Doesn't surprise me he would fall for JPG. His empirical work on deliberative democracy is garbage.
